Do you have a special history with the CWW?
We've been involved in every edition since the first CWW was held in Trondheim in 2011. In April 2022, we were very proud to organise the 6th CWW conference in the Netherlands, which for most of the participants was also the first post-Covid meeting in person. This gave an extra boost to an event that was already full of energy!
Why do you think it's important to be involved in the CWW?
The strength of the CWW lies in the fact that it brings together so many stakeholders, resulting in multifaceted presentations and discussions, with views from wind farm developers, policy makers, scientists and conservationists. The CWW not only presents the latest knowledge on the impacts of wind energy on flora and fauna, but also the possibilities for a nature-friendly energy transition.
No doubt you have some funny anecdotes to share with us?
The CWW is also certainly the most fun conference! Think whisky tasting in Scotland, Dutch sirup waffles at an after-dinner rock party, networking with Croatian peers at a pool party with the sun setting over the Mediterranean. For anyone interested in the subject, the CWW is a must! We look forward to seeing you in Montpellier!
Could you tell us a bit about your business?
We are a Spanish technology company that designs, manufactures, installs and operates systems for monitoring and reducing bird and bat mortality using AI, thus enabling the development of wind energy and the conservation of flora and fauna.
How long has your company been taking part in CWW conferences?
Since the 2017 edition in Estoril, Portugal, we have been participating and exhibiting as a sponsor. That's 8 years since our first participation! Time flies! For us, this is a key event in terms of exchanging scientific knowledge. At each edition, new projects and developments are presented. It's a chance for us to meet up with old and new players in the sector.
If you had to use 1 word to describe the CWW, what would it be?
Scientific awareness.
What would you say to people who are still hesitating about taking part in the CWW?
The bird or bat that rises early catches the best winds! Who wouldn't want to benefit from the best winds of knowledge, dissemination and commitment?
Agustín Riopérez, CEO and co-founder of DTBird and DTBat
How long have you been involved with CWW?
After sponsoring CWW 2022 and CWW 2023, we're delighted to be back for CWW 2025 - a key event where experts, researchers, developers, operators and NGOs come together to shape the future of nature-friendly wind energy.
What does the CWW mean to you?
CWW stands out for its unrivalled opportunities for knowledge exchange and collaboration, making it one of the most sought-after conferences within the RWE sustainability and environmental community! We firmly believe in the co-existence of wind energy and wildlife, and CWW plays a key role in advancing scientific knowledge to achieve this balance.
A word to anyone still hesitating to attend?
You'd be missing out on the most relevant conference at the intersection of wind energy, environmental protection and biodiversity - a must for anyone committed to a sustainable future and a nature-friendly energy transition. Come and join us!
Natalie Rothausen, Head of Biodiversity at the RWE Group
Since 2023, nvisionist has actively participated in this event, considering it the most relevant platform to discuss the impact of wind farms on wildlife and effective mitigation strategies.
Why are you attending again?
The CWW conference is unique in that it brings together all the key stakeholders -scientists, policy makers and industry leaders - who share a common goal: to find the best solutions for wildlife conservation in the renewable energy sector. It fosters an open and solutions-oriented environment, making it the ideal space for dialogue and innovation. As a sponsor in 2025, nvbird® reaffirms its commitment to the protection of biodiversity.
What will you be presenting?
Our AI-based bird detection system, designed to prevent collisions between birds and wind turbines, fits in perfectly with the mission of the conference.
What would you say to people who haven't yet heard of the CWW?
For those who are still on the fence about attending the CWW, this is the place where solutions emerge. Don't miss this opportunity to meet the experts and help shape the future of sustainable wind energy!
Lampros Argyris, International Business Development Manager at Nvisionist
How long has your company been taking part in CWW conferences?
Since the very beginning in Trondheim in 2011.
What are the main benefits?
Networking, networking and networking! The CWW is inspiring. It's important to understand and address the environmental impacts of wind energy development, and the conference contributes to that.
A fun fact to share about the CWW 😊?
There can be dancing!
Jesper Kyed Larsen, Vattenfall, biosciences expert
For how long has your company been participating to the CWW conferences?
We’ve been attending for many years—long enough that we’ve lost count! 😊CWW is a key event in our calendar, and one we always look forward to.
What are the main advantages?
CWW brings together the global community of scientists, consultants, developers, and decision-makers all focused on wind energy and wildlife. For HiDef, it is the place to connect, collaborate, and contribute to the scientific community. It’s also a great place to share insights from our projects, and stay at the forefront of scientific and technical developments.
If you must use 1 or 2 words to describe CWW, which one would that be?
Impactful and Collaborative
Why have you decided to be once more a sponsor at CWW 2025?
HiDef, along with our Alliance partners, are science-based companies, and CWW is the most important scientific event of the year in our field. We’re proud to support a conference that champions robust data, open collaboration, and innovation in wind-wildlife research. Sponsoring CWW is our way of investing in the future of evidence-led decision-making in offshore wind.
What would you say to people that are still hesitating to attend CWW?
If you're working in the wind sector, CWW is where you want to be. It’s more than just a conference—it’s a vibrant, international community focused on solving real-world challenges.
It’s always an inspiring and enjoyable week surrounded by people who share your passion.
Natalie Murray, Marketing & Media Officer HiDef
I’m a team manager in a renewable energy project development company named ABO Energy. My team is made up of experts (acousticians, ecologists, agronomists, landscape architects, legal experts...) who help the development, construction and operating teams to understand these topics.
My role as manager is to enable my team to improve the quality of our projects. I try to optimize certain processes and roles between several internal departments, and sometimes I also have to deal with external research experts. Before this role, I was the ecologist expert of the company.
As an ecologist and now manager of a team, I have been participating to the CWW conferences since 2017. This allows us to broaden our vision on certain subjects, or to glimpse possible impacts or measures, to discuss with researchers or other developers and, above all, to see what is being done in other countries.
In 1 or 2 words, I would say : a broad vision, ecological understanding.
We decided to sponsor this 8th CWW because it takes place for the first time in our country. So we are proud of it ! I remember the CWW in Scotland where I could see the atmosphere between researchers singing and dancing together during dinner. They are not as serious as their scientific articles 😉
Don’t hesitate anymore, come to the CWW, you will be able to meet nice people and have interesting discussion that you can have nowhere else!
Quentin Chiron, Head of Studies Department, ABO Energy
